The Hon. Jacqueline F. Ward Talevi is a judge for the 23rd Judicial District Court of Virginia.
The 23rd Judicial District includes the Cities of Roanoke and Salem and Roanoke County.
During her judicial tenure, Talevi has served as Chief Judge of the General District Court, and she is credited with creating a therapeutic docket in Roanoke Valley as an alternative to sentencing for individuals suffering from mental health issues.
She received a B.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Talevi then completed a J.D. at Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1983. She was admitted to practice in Virginia (1983) and West Virginia (1989).
She has taught Forensic Psychology as an adjunct professor at Columbian College of Arts and Sciences and served as a lecturer for the Supreme Court of Virginia on a range of topics.
Talevi was a member of the Problem Solving Court Commission and the Virginia Governor’s Advisory Committee for the Center of Behavioral Health and Justice Committee. She has also sat on the Mental Health Task Force of the Roanoke Valley, the Court Community Corrections Advisory Board, and the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services Committee.
