The Hon. James A. Drown is a judge for the 26th Judicial District Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court of Virginia. He was elected to the bench by the Virginia General Assembly on May 1, 2022.
The 26th Judicial District encompasses the Cities of Winchester and Harrisonburg as well as the Counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren.
Prior to his election, Drown was an attorney for the Winchester Law Group.
Drown earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 1982. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1985.
He is licensed to practice in Virginia (1986), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (1987), the District of Columbia (1988), New York (1995), the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit (1986), and the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia (1986).
He was a resident of Winchester, Virginia, at the time of his election.
