Hon. James L. Sheridan is a judge for the Narragansett Probate Court in Washington County, Rhode Island. He joined the bench in 2000.
In addition to sitting on the probate court, Sheridan has operated a solo practice in Narragansett since 1996. Before that, he handled wills, trusts, and estates as an attorney at Edwards & Angell (1989 to 1996) and spent two years at White & Case LLP in Manhattan.
Sheridan received a B.A. in history from Yale University in 1983. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Virginia School of Law in 1987. While a law student, Sheridan was on the Editorial Board of the University of Virginia Law Review. He was also a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for the highest grade in Legal Ethics.
He is admitted to practice in New York (1988), Rhode Island (1990), Massachusetts (1992), and Florida (1994).
