The Hon. Jayne Ann Pemberton is a judge for the 12th Judicial Circuit Court of Virginia. She was elected to the seat by the Virginia General Assembly in 2021.
The 12th Judicial Circuit includes Chesterfield County and the City of Colonial Heights.
Pemberton began her judicial career as a judge for the Chesterfield County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in the 12th Judicial District in 2014.
Before joining the bench, she was the director at Thompson McMullan, PC (2012 to 2014) and was also associated with Sands Anderson, PC (2006 to 2012) and Scaffer & Cabell, PC (2000 to 2005). In addition to her practice, Pemberton taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Richmond since 2010.
She received a bachelor’s degree in English (1993) and a master’s degree in education and English (1995) from Baylor University. Pemberton then spent time as an ESL teacher in Maebaru, Fukuoka, Japan (1995 to 1998), before completing a J.D. at the University of Richmond School of Law in 2001.
