The Hon. Jeffry J. Larson is a judge for the 5th Judicial District Court of Kansas. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Kathleen Sebelius in 2007, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John Sanderson.
The 5th Judicial District encompasses Chase County and Lyon County. Larson has held assignments in Lyon County.
Larson earned a bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University in 1984. He then completed a J.D. at Washburn University School of Law in 1986.
After graduating from law school, Larson began his legal career as an assistant county attorney for the Crawford County Attorney’s Office. He served in that capacity until 1988, at which time he entered into private practice in Emporia. Larson supplemented his practice with service as a judge for the Madison Municipal Court (2006).
His memberships have included the Kansas Supreme Court Task Force on Permanency Planning.
Larson was born and raised in Emporia, Kansas.
