Judge Jennifer Jensen Bergan - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Jennifer Jensen Bergan is a judge for the Saratoga County Family Court in the Fourth Judicial District of New York. She was elected to the Family Court bench in 2011, becoming the first woman to be elected to a judicial position in Saratoga County. During her tenure on the Family Court, Judge Jensen Bergan has also served as a presiding judge of the Integrated Domestic Violence Part and a presiding judge of the Youth Part.

She received her B.A. from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1980. Jensen Bergan went on to earn her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1983.

Prior to joining the bench, she worked as an attorney in private practice and also served as chief of the Special Victims Unit with the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office.

Her memberships have included the New York State Family Court Judges Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Saratoga County Bar Association, and the Warren County Bar Association.
