Hon. Jennifer S. Callaghan is judge for the Oakland County Probate Court in Michigan. She was elected to the bench in November 2016.
During her judicial tenure, Callaghan has served as presiding judge of adult and minor guardianships and conservatorships as well as mental health.
Prior to her election, she spent two years as the Oakland County Public Administrator (2015 to 2017). Before that, Callaghan was in private practice as an associate at John Yun, P.C. (2010 to 2015). During her tenure there, she served as a guardian ad litem with the Probate Court (2007 to 2015).
In addition, Callaghan was a former attorney at Callaghan, PLLC, where she handled probate matters for six years (2004 to 2010), and she also spent time as an assistant attorney general with the Michigan Department of Attorney General (2000 to 2004).
She received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Callaghan went on to complete a J.D. at Wayne State University Law School. She was admitted to practice in Michigan (2000) and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Her memberships have included the Oakland County Bar Association, the Women Officials Network (board member), the Lebanese American Chamber of Commerce, the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, the Women Lawyer Association of Michigan, the Michigan Probate Judges Association, the Incorporated Society of Irish Lawyers, the Michigan Guardianship Association, and the Michigan Intra-Professional Association.
Callaghan has also served on the Oakland County SAVE Task Force and the Court Reporting and Recording Board of Review.
She is a Fellow of the Michigan Bar and Oakland County Bar.
