Hon. Jerome D. Catanzaro (Ret.) was a judge for the Pike County Court of Common Pleas (Probate and Juvenile Division) in Ohio. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ted Strickland in June 2008 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. William Wray Bevens (Ret.). Catanzaro retired in 2011.
At the time of his appointment, he was a partner in the law firm of Catanzaro & Rosenberger in Waverly (1993 to 2008) and was law director for the Village of Beaver. As the law director, Catanzaro represented the village in criminal and civil matters.
He also presided for sixteen years as a judge for the Pike County Court (1980 to 1996) and taught contract law, evidence and discovery, and bankruptcy as an adjunct professor at Shawnee State University.
Catanzaro received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Cincinnati in 1974. He went on to complete a J.D. at the Ohio State University, Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 1977.
He was a past president of the Pike County Bar Association and a former trustee of the Pike County Law Library Association.
His civic involvement included acting as a mock trial advisor for Waverly High School.
After retiring from the bench, Catanzaro continued to preside as a visiting judge in the Visiting Judge Program.
