The Hon. Jodi M. Hoos (Ret.) served as a circuit judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. Hoos was appointed to the bench by the Illinois Supreme Court on December 15, 2014, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Michael E. Brandt. She retired on September 1, 2019, and became the State’s Attorney for Peoria County.
The 10th Judicial Circuit includes Marshall County, Peoria County, Putnam County, Stark County, and Tazewell County.
Prior to her appointment, Hoos was an assistant state’s attorney for the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office, a position to which she was named in 2000. During her tenure there, she rose through the ranks, eventually becoming Chief Felony Prosecutor for Peoria County (2007).
Hoos earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nebraska, Kearney in 1997. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2000.
Born and raised in a small farm community in central Nebraska, Hoos was raised with three older brothers. She attended Amherst Public High School. Hoos and her husband have two daughters.
She is registered as a Democrat.
