Hon. John Flythe is a judge for the Augusta Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia. He was elected to the bench on May 24, 2016.
The Augusta Judicial Circuit comprises Richmond and Burke Counties.
Prior to his election, Flythe had presided as a judge for the Richmond County State Court since 2010.
Before beginning his judicial career, he had worked in both the private and public sectors. Flythe spent time as a sole practitioner in his own private practice (2002 to 2010) and worked for two years as an assistant district attorney with the Augusta Judicial Circuit (1999 to 2001).
He also sat for four years as an associate judge for the Grovetown Municipal Court (2006 to 2010).
Flythe received a B.A. in history from the University of Georgia in 1995. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1999.
He was a former member of the Georgia Commission on Family Violence (2010 to 2015).
