The Hon. John M. Marcucci (Ret.) served as a judge for the Denver County Court in Colorado. Marcucci was appointed to the bench by former Mayor Federico Peña on March 5, 1990. He retired on September 29, 2017.
Marcucci played an instrumental role in the creation of the Denver Recovery Court Program Services, a partnership between agencies that seeks to meet the needs of the most frequent users of the justice system. He also helped Denver become the first front-range jurisdiction to adopt the Colorado PreTrial Assessment Tool (CPAT). CPAT is an individualized risk-based system used to set bonds for those facing criminal charges.
Prior to his appointment, Marcucci was a partner at Hughes, Clikeman & Marcucci. Before that, he spent time as an associate at Kidneigh & Hughes and Leland Huttner. While in private practice, Marcucci handled criminal, bankruptcy, and civil matters.
Marcucci earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from Regis College in 1975. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 1978.
