The Hon. John R. Scott is a judge for the 19th West Judicial Circuit Court in Arkansas. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mike Huckabee on October 1, 2001, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Don Huffman.
Scott earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas in 1973. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1977.
After graduating from law school, Scott entered into private practice. He worked in that capacity until his election to the bench.
His memberships have included the Arkansas Bar Association, the Benton County Bar Association, the William B. Putman American Inn of Court, and the Rogers Kiwanis Club. He has also been involved with the Rogers Airport Commission and the Arkansas Judicial Council.
He is a recipient of the Outstanding Trial Judge Award from the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association (2013) and the Jurist of the Year Award from the Arkansas Bar Association (2015).
