Hon. Keith D. Pion is an associate judge for the Baltimore County District Court (District 8) in Maryland. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Larry Hogan in October 2016.
Prior to his appointment, Pion was an assistant state’s attorney with the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office since 2004. During that time, he held assignments in the District Court Division, the Felony Trial Team, and the Crimes Against Children Unit before being promoted to chief of the Juvenile Crime Division (2015 to 2016).
Before that, he was a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida (2000 to 2004). During that same time, Pion served as a Judge Advocate General in the United States Air Force (2000 to 2004), having attained the rank of Captain. For his service, he received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, and the National Defense Medal.
He received a B.A. in anthropology and Italian from Vassar College in 1994. Pion went on to complete a J.D. at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 1999. He was admitted to practice in Maryland (1999) and the District of Columbia (2000).
His memberships have included the Maryland State Bar Association and the Baltimore County Bar Association.
From a civic standpoint, Pion served as squad leader for the Catch-A-Lift Fund and was a member of the Ruxton Hill Homeowners Association’s Environmental Control Committee.
Pion was born in Beaufort, South Carolina. His wife, Angela Whittaker-Pion, is also an attorney.
