The Hon. Keith L. Collett is a judge for the 8th Judicial District Court of Kansas. He was appointed to the seat by Governor Laura Kelly on October 15, 2021, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Steven L. Hornbaker.
The 8th Judicial District includes Dickinson, Geary, Marion, and Morris Counties.
Collett began his judicial career as a magistrate for the 8th Judicial District Court, following his appointment by former Governor Sam Brownback in April 2012. Prior to his appointment, he was in private practice at Brookers & Collett (1989 to 2012) and served for six years as the County Attorney in Marion County after being elected to the post in 1989 (1989 to 1995). Collett also briefly served as the attorney for the City of Marion in 2011.
He received a B.S. from Kansas State University in 1977. Collett then completed a J.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1980.
His memberships include the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Judicial Council Guardianship and Conservatorship Committee.
His wife, Anne, is a teacher at Centre Schools USD. In his free time, Collett enjoys working on the family farm near Marion, as well as engaging in community volunteer work.
