The Hon. Laura A. Moehrle is a judge for the 7th Judicial District Court of Minnesota. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Tim Walz on June 8, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Frank J. Kundrat.
The 7th Judicial District includes Becker County, Benton County, Clay County, Douglas County, Mille Lacs County, Morrison County, Otter Tail County, Stearns County, Todd County, and Wadena County.
Prior to her appointment, Moehrle was a civil trial attorney and a shareholder at Quinlivan & Hughes, a law firm she joined in 2005. During her tenure there, she specialized in the defense of medical malpractice, motor vehicle accident, and legal malpractice claims in Minnesota and North Dakota. She also represented health care providers and attorneys before their professional licensing boards.
Moehrle earned a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, philosophy, and legal studies from the University of St. Thomas in 2002. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School in 2005.
Her memberships have included the Health Care Liability Committee of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association. She also sat on the Board of Directors of Kids Fighting Hunger, and she fundraised for the Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity.
