Hon. Leonard F. Holzapfel (Ret.) was a judge for the Jackson County Court of Common Pleas (General and Domestic Relations Division) in Ohio. He was elected to the bench in 1992. Holzapfel retired on December 31, 2012.
He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Ohio University. Holzapfel went on to complete a J.D. at Capital University Law School.
Over the course of his legal career, he worked as a staff attorney for an insurance company before relocating to Jackson County in 1980. It was at that time, he entered into private practice, where he handled domestic relations, probate, civil, and real estate matters. While in private practice, Holzapfel also acted as law director for the City of Wellston and worked as an assistant prosecuting attorney with the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.
After his retirement, he became a panelist at Judicial Alternatives of Ohio.
Holzapfel is a graduate of Wellston High School.
He was registered as a Republican.
