Hon. Leslie J. Gerbracht (Ret.) was a judge for the 3rd Judicial District Court of Colorado. She was appointed to the bench in 2006, holding the distinction of being the first woman to serve in the 3rd Judicial District. Gerbracht retired in 2023.
The 3rd Judicial District includes Huerfano and Las Animas Counties.
During her judicial tenure, she served as Chief Judge of the 3rd Judicial District since her appointment to the position in 2018. Gerbracht is also credited with implementing problem-solving court programs in the District Court, including the Truancy Prevention Program and GED Completion Program. In addition to her administrative duties, she heard criminal, juvenile, probate, dependency and neglect, domestic relations, and civil matters in Las Animas County.
Prior to her appointment, Gerbracht worked as a private practice attorney in Trinidad (2005 to 2007) and was a former deputy state public defender with the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender (1995 to 2005).
She received a B.A. from Sangamon State University in 1984. Gerbracht went on to complete a J.D. at Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1997.
She is a past president of the Board of Directors of the Trinidad State Junior College Educational Foundation and a past chair of the Trinidad Access to Justice Committee.
Gerbracht, who started a non-profit to benefit children in the justice system, was named Citizen of the Year by the Trinidad Community Foundation in 2012.
