The Hon. Lester B. Adler is a Justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the Twelfth Judicial District of New York. He assumed the position in 2017. Prior to serving in Bronx County, Justice Adler was elected to serve as a Justice of the Westchester County Supreme Court in 2005. His judicial career began in 2001 when he was elected to serve as a judge of the Westchester County Court. While on the Westchester bench, Justice Adler was appointed by the Hon. Jonathan Lippman, former Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York, to serve as an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court for the Ninth Judicial District in 2001.
Justice Adler received his B.A. from The George Washington University in 1969. He went on to earn his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1973.
Prior to his election to the bench, Adler practiced as a criminal defense litigator with Adler, Cohen, and Timko beginning in 1978. While with the firm, Adler also served as a Greenburgh councilman and deputy supervisor from 1983 to 2000.
Adler began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in the Homicide Bureau after graduating from law school in 1973.
Some of his memberships have included the Westchester County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Screening Committee of Criminal Counsel, and the Chairman of the Criminal Justice Section.
