Hon. Lolita G. Romanick is a judge for the Northeast Central Judicial District of North Dakota. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jack Dalrymple in 2014.
The Northeast Central Judicial District includes Grand Forks and Nelson Counties.
Prior to her appointment, Romanick had worked as a private practice attorney since 1984. During that time, she was an attorney in the Morley Law Firm (1999 to 2014) and also practiced at American West Insurance Company and McGee, Hankla, Backes & Wheeler. Her areas of practice included insurance defense, employment, personal injury, workers’ compensation, estate planning, probate, elder, administrative, family law, and general litigation matters.
She received a B.S. in occupational therapy (1979) and a B.A. in French (1995) from the University of North Dakota. Romanick also earned a J.D. at the University of Idaho College of Law in 1983.
She was admitted to practice in North Dakota (1984), the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota (1986), the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit (1987), the United States Supreme Court (1991), Minnesota (2001), and the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota (2001).
Romanick was a past president of the North Dakota Defense Lawyers and a state representative for the Defense Research Institute. She also held a membership with the Grand Forks County Bar Association and sat on the Member Services Committee and the American Inns of Court Membership Committee (Randy Lee Chapter).
