The Hon. Lynn C. Brendemuehl is First Justice of the Concord District Court in Massachusetts. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Deval Patrick on August 6, 2014.
Over the course of her judicial career, Brendemuehl has held assignments in the Framingham District Court as well as the Concord District Court.
Brendemuehl earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from Boston College in 1984. She then completed a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School in 1988.
After graduating from law school, Brendemuehl entered into private practice. She started as an associate at Iannella and Mummolo in Boston, handling personal injury, worker’s compensation, and social security matters.
Brendemuehl left the firm in 1997. She became an attorney advisor to the United States Administrative Law Judges in the Office of Hearings & Appeals of the Social Security Administration. She served in that capacity until 2000, at which time she joined the Massachusetts Highway Department as a staff attorney. However, her time there was brief. Later that year, she was selected to serve as an administrative judge for the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents.
She is a recipient of the Judicial Excellence Award from the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (2014).
Brendemuehl was born in Boston and raised in Nantucket. She is a member of the old Nantucket Coffin family and cites the Hon. Louis Coffin (Ret.) as a distant relative. Brendemuehl was a resident of Natick at the time of her appointment.
