The Hon. Lynn E. Alexander is a judge for the Rutherford County General Sessions Court in Tennessee. She was elected to the bench in 2014.
A municipal judge for the Smyrna Municipal Court, Alexander sits by special designation on the Rutherford County General Sessions Court.
She received a bachelor’s degree in English from Middle Tennessee State University. Alexander then completed a J.D. at the Nashville School of Law in 1988. While a law student, she was a state employee with the Tennessee General Assembly.
Alexander then began a tenure with the Tennessee Department of Labor, participating in the development and implementation of the Benefits Review Program created by the Tennessee General Assembly in 1992. She also served as a legislative liaison for the department as well as an administrative judge for the Nashville Electric Service. Alexander was appointed as an administrative judge by the Tennesse Secretary of State, where she remained until assuming the Smyrna municipal bench in 2014.
Her memberships include the Tennessee General Sessions Judges Conference, the Tennessee Municipal Judges Conference, the Rutherford-Cannon County Bar Association, and the National Association of Administrative Law Judges.
From a civic standpoint, Alexander has been involved with the Smyrna Lions Club, the Rutherford County Read to Succeed Program (adult literacy tutor), the Smyrna High School Faculty Advisory Committee, the Snyder Foundation Board, and the Smyrna Independent Merchant’s Association.
She has also taught Administrative Law as an adjunct professor at the Nashville School of Law.
Alexander and her husband, Neil, have two children.
