The Hon. Lynn O'Malley Taylor (Ret.). was a judge for the Marin County Superior Court in California. She was originally elected to serve on the Marin County Municipal Court in 1982. She was then elected to serve on the Marin County Superior Court in 1990. At the time of her election to the Municipal Court, Taylor became one of the first women to ever be seated in Marin County.
Taylor graduated with her B.A. in education from the University of Arizona in 1964.
She then began her career as a teacher in Arizona. In 1966, Taylor relocated to California to accept a teaching position in San Francisco. After then transferring to the Catholic School for Boys, Taylor began attending law school at night.
She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1972.
After graduating from law school, Taylor entered into private practice, where she would remain until being elected to the Marin County Municipal Court.
During her tenure on the bench, Taylor served as the Presiding Judge of the Court in 2003.
She served as the secretary for the Marin County Bar Association. Taylor was also appointed by the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court to serve as a member of the Judicial Council Jury Instruction Task Force.
Taylor also served as a volunteer faculty member at the California Judicial College. Her other volunteer work has included the California Center for Judicial Education and Research, the Rutter Group, Stanford University Law School, the University of San Francisco School of Law, and with the Continuing Education of the Bar.
Her memberships have included the Terra Linda Rotary Club, the Marin Evening Rotary, the Marin Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Marin Symphony, the Marin Ballet, the Terwilliger Nature Education Center, and the United Way Marin, just to name a few.
Though she retired from the bench in 2004, Taylor continued to serve as an assigned judge in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Contra Costa, Monterey, Orange, and San Francisco counties.
She was inducted into the Marin Women's Hall of Fame in 2019 by the YMCA San Francisco and Marin.
