Hon. M. Brent Haltom is a judge for the 8th South Judicial Circuit Court of Arkansas. He was elected to the bench in 2010.
The 8th South Judicial Circuit includes Lafayette and Miller Counties.
Prior to his election, Haltom had worked as a Prosecuting Attorney since being elected to the position in 1991. Before that, he spent four years as a part-time deputy prosecuting attorney (1987 to 1991) and was in private practice in Lewisville beginning in 1978.
Haltom received a bachelor’s degree in business from East Texas State University in 1974. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1978.
Haltom was born in Bearden, Arkansas, and attended Lewisville High School. He and his wife, Jana, have two grown children. When not presiding over legal matters, Haltom enjoys hunting and collecting items such as knives and toys.
