The Hon. M. Patricia Zimmerman (Ret.) was a judge for the Vermont Superior Court. She joined the bench in 1997. Zimmerman retired in August 2012.
During her judicial tenure, she held an assignment in the Criminal Division and presided in Orange, Rutland, and Windsor Counties. Zimmerman also served as the only judge in Vermont to preside over all three drug courts held in Chittenden, Rutland, and Washington Counties and is credited with establishing the Sparrow Project, a coalition of agencies aligned to meet the needs of individuals dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues.
Prior to joining the bench, she spent eleven years as the State’s Attorney in Windsor County.
Zimmerman worked as a legal secretary in New Jersey before completing a J.D. at Vermont Law School.
