The Hon. Maban Wright is a judge for the 3rd Judicial District Court of Kansas in Shawnee County. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Laura Kelly in 2022, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. David Debenham.
Prior to her appointment, Wright worked as a public defender for various offices associated with the Kansas State Board of Indigent Defense Services, including the Death Penalty Defense Unit. During her tenure there, she held the positions of assistant public defender, deputy public defender, and chief public defender.
Wright earned a B.A. in history from the University of Utah. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Idaho College of Law.
Her memberships include the Women Attorneys Association of Topeka, the Kansas Women Attorneys Association, and the Topeka Bar Association.
Wright is a married mother of two daughters.
