Hon. Margaret M. Ogarek is an associate judge for the Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois. She was elected to the Circuit Court by the Cook County Circuit judges in 2018.
While on the bench, Ogarek has held an assignment in the Fifth Municipal District of the Municipal Department.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago. Ogarek also completed a J.D. at Loyola University, Chicago School of Law in 1998.
A career prosecutor, she had served as an assistant state’s attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office since her admittance to the Illinois Bar in 1999. Over the course of her tenure there, Ogarek served as wing supervisor of the Felony Division (2018) and as deputy supervisor of the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Division (2011 to 2018).
She was a board member of the Coalition to Improve Prosecution of Criminal Sexual Assault and the National Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, where she also served as co-chair of the Legal Committee and a member of the FBI Working Group.
