The Hon. Marla O. Anderson is a judge for the Monterey County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pete Wilson in 1995.
Judge Anderson graduated with her B.A. in communications from La Sierra University in 1981. She then received her M.A. from the University of Southern California, Annenberg School of Communications in 1983. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1986.
Prior to her appointment to the Superior Court, Anderson had worked as a deputy district attorney for the Monterey County District Attorney's Office.
During her tenure on the bench, Judge Anderson served as the Assistant Presiding Judge of the Court beginning in 2011. She also served two years as the Presiding Judge of the Court. In 2014, the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court appointed Judge Anderson to serve on the California Judicial Council.
She has also served as a faculty member and assistant dean at the B.E. Witkin Judicial College of California.
Some of her judicial committees have included the Executive and Planning Committee, the Judicial Branch Budget Committee, and the Litigation Management Committee.
Judge Anderson received the Lady Justice Lifetime Achievement Award for Legal Advocacy and Community Service from the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association in 2015. She also received the La Sierra University Alumnus of the Year Award in 2011.
