The Hon. Martin B. McGee is a judge for the Cabarrus County Superior Court in the 19A Judicial District of the 4th Division in North Carolina. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pat McCrory in 2014.
McGee initially presided in the 6th Division of the Superior Court. However, in 2018, the North Carolina General Assembly passed House Bill 717, which revised the state superior court system. His seat was subsequently absorbed into the 4th Division.
Prior to his appointment, McGee was a judge for the Cabarrus County District Court, a position to which he was named by former Governor Jim Hunt in 2000. Before that, he spent time as an attorney at Williams, Boger, Grady, Davis & Tuttle.
McGee earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991. He then completed a J.D. at Wake Forest University School of Law in 1995.
He is licensed to practice in North Carolina (1995), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina (1996), the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (1998), the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (1995), and the United States Supreme Court (1999).
His memberships have included the Education Committee of the North Carolina District Court Judges Association.
