Hon. Mary E. Deganhart is a judge for the 7th Judicial District Court of Colorado. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Hickenlooper in July 2011, filling a newly created position by the Colorado State Senate.
The 7th Judicial District includes Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel Counties.
On the bench, Deganhart hears criminal, civil, probate, juvenile, mental health, and domestic relations cases.
Prior to her appointment, she served as the County Attorney in Ouray County (2006 to 2011) and worked as a private practice attorney in Archuleta County since 1985, including managing her own private practice in Pagosa Springs (1993 to 2006). Her areas of practice emphasized real estate matters. Deganhart also spent five years as a contract attorney for Archuleta County (2000 to 2005).
She received a bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College. Deganhart went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 1985.
She was admitted to practice in Colorado (1985) and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado (1985).
Deganhart served on the Probate Advisory Committee and the Office of Public Guardian Study Committee.
She resides in Ouray County, Colorado.
