The Hon. Michael D. Anderson is an associate justice for the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Charlie Baker on June 24, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Randy Jill Kaplan.
Prior to his appointment, Anderson worked as a sole practitioner in his own private practice since 2000. Before that, he spent nine years as an attorney at McLellan & Zack in Boston. Over the course of his legal career, Anderson specialized in family law matters, representing clients in the Probate and Family Court.
Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Trinity College. He then completed a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School. As a law student, he sat as a member of the Transnational Law Journal.
A resident of Woburn at the time of his appointment, Anderson was an alderman of the Woburn City Council, representing Ward 4 from 2008 to 2020. His grandmother holds the distinction of starting the first woman-owned law practice in Boston.
