The Hon. Michael E. Wagner is a judge for the 36th District Court of Michigan. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Snyder on November 23, 2011, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. George Chatman.
Prior to his appointment, Wagner was an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, a position to which he was named in 1992. During his tenure there, he held assignments as the Deputy Chief Prosecutor for the General Trial Division as well as the Principal Attorney for the Major Drug Unit.
Wagner earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. He spent the next several years working at General Motors before completing a J.D. at Wayne State University Law School. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1988.
He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
