The Hon. Olen D. Winningham is a magistrate for the Davidson County Juvenile Court in Tennessee. He was appointed to the bench in 2012.
Winningham earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Tennessee Technological University. He spent the next several years as a foster care worker with the State of Tennessee, a case manager with the Metro Caring for Children Program, and a probation officer with the Family Services Division of the Davidson County Juvenile Court. Then, in 2003, he completed a J.D. at Nashville School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Winningham began his legal career as a staff attorney for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. He served in that capacity until 2008, at which time he became an attorney with the Child Support Program of the Tennessee Department of Human Services. During his tenure there, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming the Legal Director for Davidson County Child Support Services.
Born at Blytheville Air Force Base in Arkansas, Winningham was raised on military bases in Germany and the southeastern United States. He and his wife, Melinda, have a menagerie of dogs and cats. Melinda has worked as an elementary school art teacher with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. When not presiding over legal proceedings, Winningham enjoys reading, following the Pittsburgh Steelers, and collecting music on outmoded physical delivery systems.
