The Hon. Philip S. Jackson is an associate judge for the Baltimore City Circuit Court in Maryland. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Martin O’Malley on January 18, 2013.
Jackson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1979. He spent the next few years working as an accountant at Mercantile Safe Deposit and Trust (1979 to 1981) and the Maryland Department of Human Resources (1981 to 1982) before completing a J.D. at the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1984. He is admitted to practice in Maryland (1984).
After graduating from law school, Jackson began his legal career as an assistant state’s attorney with the Baltimore County Office of the State’s Attorney. He served in that capacity until 1992, at which time he became an Assistant United States Attorney with the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland. During his tenure there, he held assignments as Deputy Chief of the Narcotics Division and Attorney Coordinator for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.
When not presiding over legal proceedings, Jackson is a volunteer and mentor at Christopher’s Place and Our Daily Bread. He also attends St. Francis of Assisi Parish, where he serves as a eucharistic minister.
