The Hon. Ponda A. Caldwell is a judge for the Spartanburg County Probate Court in South Carolina. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mark Sanford on January 13, 2005.
Caldwell received an A.S. from the University of South Carolina in 1973.
She was a past secretary/treasurer for the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges, served as co-chair of the Policy and Procedures Committee, and a member at large of the Probate Court Advisory Committee to the South Carolina Court Administration.
Caldwell has also taught Probate Law at Spartanburg Methodist College and is a longtime member of the Advisory Committee for the Paralegal Program, which originated at Converse College. In addition, she has been involved with the First Monday Club and the Greater Spartanburg Republican Women’s Club.
Caldwell attended Aiken High School. She and her husband, Edwin, have one son. Caldwell is a member of the United Methodist Church of the Covenant.
