The Hon. R. Erin Farrar is a judge for the Yuma County Superior Court in Arizona. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Doug Ducey on May 3, 2019, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John Paul Plante.
Farrar sits as the Presiding Judge of the Yuma County Juvenile Court. She handles dependency and delinquency cases and sits as a member of the Committee on Juvenile Courts.
Prior to her appointment, Farrar served as a justice of the peace (pro tempore) for the Yuma County Justice of the Peace, a position to which she was named in 2017.
Farrar earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Arizona State University in 2001. She then completed a J.D. at the University of La Verne College of Law in 2006.
After graduating from law school, Farrar entered into private practice, handling family, criminal, juvenile, probate, business, personal injury, and bankruptcy law matters with various firms in Yuma. Then, in 2012, she joined the Arizona Attorney General’s Office as an assistant attorney general. During her tenure there, she held assignments in the Division of Child Safety and the Division of Child Support Services.
Her memberships have included the Yuma County Bar Association (president). She has also been actively involved as a volunteer with the Yuma Youth Soccer Association and the Yuma Union High School Association.
She is a recipient of the Outstanding Advocate in Protective Services Award from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office (2014).
Farrar was born and raised in Yuma County.
