The Hon. Rebecca A. Crotty (Ret.) was a judge for the 3rd Judicial District Court of Kansas in Shawnee County. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mark Parkinson in 2010, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the late Hon. Jan W. Leuenberger. Crotty retired on June 19, 2017.
She began her judicial career as a district magistrate for the 25th Judicial District in Finney County before becoming a judge for the Kansas Court of Tax Appeals in 2004. During her tenure there, Crotty served as Chief Judge for four years beginning in 2005.
Prior to joining the bench, she worked as a private practice attorney and was the former vice president and counsel for a bank in Garden City. Crotty began her legal career as a research attorney for the Hon. Harold Fatzer and the Hon. Richard Holmes with the Kansas Supreme Court.
She received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Kansas in 1972. Crotty then completed a J.D. at Washburn University School of Law 1977.
She was a longtime supporter of CASA, including serving on the state board.
Following her retirement, Crotty hoped to spend more time with her family.
