The Hon. Regina M. Joe is a judge for the 19D Judicial District Court of North Carolina. She was elected to the bench in 2006.
The 19D Judicial District includes Hoke and Moore Counties.
Joe was initially elected to the 16A Judicial District, which included Scotland, Hoke, Richmond, and Anson. She is a certified Juvenile Court judge and has served on the Board of Governors for the North Carolina Association of District Court Judges (past president).
Prior to joining the bench, Joe was a chief public defender (2005 to 2006) in Hoke and Scotland Counties. She first joined the office as an assistant public defender in 1998. Before that, Joe spent one year in private practice and worked for the Employment Security Commission.
She began her legal career as a prosecutor. During that time, Joe served as an assistant district attorney in Pitt County (1989 to 1991) before making a lateral move to Hoke and Scotland Counties in 1991. She remained an assistant district attorney there until entering private practice in 1995.
Joe received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1985. She then completed a J.D. at Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, in 1988.
Joe attended Olympic High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
