The Hon. Richard A. Haugner (deceased) served as a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. Haugner was elected to the bench in 1980. He retired in 1996 and joined the Assigned Judges Program.
Prior to his election, Haugner served as an assistant district attorney in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. During his twenty-year tenure there, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming Chief Assistant District Attorney.
Haugner earned a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He then completed a J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta and Phi Alpha Delta.
When not handling legal matters, Haugner enjoyed opera, visiting the mountains, reading history, attending football games, and traveling to England and Maui.
Haugner was born in Oakland, California. He passed away on June 12, 2016.
