The Hon. Robert D. Rinfret (Ret.) served as a judge for the General Division of the Holmes County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. Rinfret was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ted Strickland on February 15, 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Thomas White.
Rinfret earned a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College in 1969. He then completed a J.D. at the Ohio State University, Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 1972.
After graduating from law school, Rinfret entered into private practice, opening the Rinfret Law Office in 1973. He worked in that capacity until his appointment to the bench, supplementing his practice with service as an assistant prosecuting attorney (2004 to 2010) and prosecuting attorney (1989 to 2004) for the Holmes County Prosecutor’s Office.
He taught as a professor of law at the University of Akron (Wayne College Branch).
His memberships have included the Holmes County Rail to Trails Coalition and the Holmes County Park District Board.
A resident of Millersburg, Rinfret is married to Rosanne, a former teacher for West Holmes Middle School. An avid runner, he volunteered as a track coach at his children’s high school, helping to develop a junior high track program.
He is registered as a Democrat.
