The Hon. Robert K. Martelle is a judge for the 29A Judicial District Court of North Carolina. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pat McCrory on February 27, 2013.
The 29A Judicial District encompasses Rutherford County and McDowell County.
Prior to his appointment, Martelle was a partner at Williams & Martelle, a law firm he joined in 1995. He supplemented his practice with service as defense counsel for the 29A Judicial District Drug Treatment Court.
Martell earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1991. He then completed a J.D. at Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, in 1995.
He is licensed to practice in North Carolina (1995) and the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina (2004).
