The Hon. Sabine M. Coyne is an associate justice for the Brockton District Court in Massachusetts. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Charlie Baker on July 18, 2018.
Prior to her appointment, Coyne sat as an assistant clerk magistrate for the Criminal Session of the Suffolk County Superior Court (2018). Before that, she served as legal counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Correction (2012 to 2018) and an assistant district attorney for the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office (1997 to 2011). Over the course of her legal career, Coyne specialized in domestic violence and sexual assault matters.
Coyne earned a bachelor’s degree in American studies from Manhattanville College (1990) and a master’s degree in English literature from Hofstra University (1991). She then completed a J.D. at Southern New England School of Law in 1994.
Her memberships have included the Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys and the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts.
Coyne was a resident of North Attleboro at the time of her appointment.
