The Hon. Sarah B. Cure is a judge for the 8th Judicial District Court of Colorado. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis on January 12, 2021, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Stephen E. Howard.
The 8th Judicial District encompasses Jackson County and Larimer County.
Prior to her appointment, Cure was the owner of the Cure Law Office, a law firm she opened in 2008. During her tenure there, she supplemented her practice with service as a contract attorney for the Colorado Judicial Branch.
Cure earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and philosophy from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2001. She then completed a J.D. at the University of New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce School of Law in 2005.
After graduating from law school, Cure entered into private practice. She started as an associate at the Law Office of Andrew Bertrand. Then, in 2007, she joined the Wareham Group in Centerra. Cure specialized in complex criminal cases, including grand jury indictments, violations of the Colorado Organized Crime Act, and homicides. She also has experience representing individuals in civil mental health matters, juvenile direct files, post-conviction proceedings, and administrative hearings.
