The Hon. Scott S. Sifferman is an associate judge for the 39th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Ashcroft in 1989.
The 39th Judicial Circuit includes Barry County, Stone County, and Lawrence County.
Prior to his appointment, Sifferman was the Prosecuting Attorney for Lawrence County, a position to which he was named in 1982.
Sifferman earned a bachelor’s degree (1976) and a master’s degree (1977) from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1980.
After graduating from law school, Sifferman entered into private practice. He started as a staff attorney at Bussell, Hough, O'Neill in Springfield. He worked in that capacity until 1982, at which time he opened his own private practice in Mount Vernon.
His memberships have included the Missouri Association of Probate and Associate Circuit Judges, the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce, and the Mount Vernon School and Community Drug Education Council. He also sat on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Veterans Home Assistance League, the Board of Directors of the Lawrence County Unit of the American Cancer Society.
Born in Aurora, Missouri, he and his wife, Debbie, have three children. They attend Covenant Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. When not presiding over legal matters, he enjoys golfing.
He is registered as a Republican.
