The Hon. Steven A. Stockard is a judge for the 11th Judicial District Court of Kansas. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Laura Kelly in 2020, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jeffry L. Jack.
The 11th Judicial District includes Cherokee, Crawford, and Labette Counties.
Prior to his appointment,. Stockard worked as a private practice attorney since 2005, including as a partner at Wilber & Towner, P.A. At the firm, he handled personal injury, bankruptcy, family law, and juvenile justice matters. In addition to his practice, Stockard was also a part-time assistant county attorney in both Crawford County (2016 to 2020) and Bourbon County (2015 to 2020).
Early in his legal career, Stockard had worked for seven years as a Crawford County assistant county attorney (1997 to 2004) and was a staff attorney with the Kansas Department of Revenue.
He received a B.A. from Benedictine College in 1992. Stockard then completed a J.D. at Washburn University School of Law in 1996.
His memberships include the Crawford County Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association.
Stockard has also served as a youth volleyball coach at the YMCA.
