The Hon. Tamiko A. Amaker is an administrative judge for the Criminal Court of the City of New York in New York County. She was appointed to the position in 2018 by the Hon. Lawrence K. Marks, Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York to replace the Hon. Melissa C. Jackson. Judge Amaker was originally appointed to the Criminal Court by former Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2010. During her tenure on the bench, she has served as the Presiding Judge of the domestic violence courtroom in Manhattan and in 2013 was named the Supervising Judge of the Manhattan Criminal Court.
Judge Amaker received her B.A. from Vassar College in 1990. She went on to earn her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1996.
Prior to her appointment to the Criminal Court, Amaker spent her entire legal career with the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, beginning in 1996. During her thirteen-year tenure with the D.A.’s office, Amaker served as deputy chief of the Bureau of Child Abuse and Sex Crimes.
Judge Amaker received an Achievement Award from The Foundation for the Judicial Friends and The Judicial Friends Association in 2018.
