The Hon. Tanya M. Bosier Jones is a magistrate judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She was appointed to the bench by former Chief Judge Robert E. Morin in January 2017.
Prior to her appointment, Jones was assistant general counsel for the District of Columbia Courts. Before that, she gained experience in abuse and neglect, administrative, child support, domestic relations, domestic violence, public benefits, and procurement law and intervention proceedings as an assistant attorney general with the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. Her assignments included the Department of Human Services Office of the General Counsel; chief of the Policy, Outreach and Training Section of the Child Support Service Division; the Child Protection Section, and the Domestic Violence Section.
Jones received a B.A. from Syracuse University in 1995. She then completed a J.D. at American University, Washington College of Law, in 2000. While a law student, she was a law clerk to the Hon. Zoe A. Bush with the Superior Court of the District of Columbia (2000 to 2001).
Jones has taught as an adjunct professor of law at American University George Washington College of Law.
She has been active with the District of Columbia Bar and the Maryland Bar Association. Jones has also held memberships with the Black Women’s Bar Association of Suburban Maryland and Zeta Phi Beta.
