The Hon. Terrence Leon Holmes is a judge of the Jefferson County Court at Law No. 2. He was elected to the bench in 2014 and re-elected to the seat in 2018.
Prior to his election, Holmes was a municipal judge for the Beaumont, a position to which he was named in 2009.
Holmes earned a bachelor's degree from Southern University in 1980. He then completed an M.S. from Prairie View A&M University (1980) and a J.D. from the Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law (1982).
Eight years after graduating from law school, Holmes began working as an assistant county attorney with the Orange County Attorney's Office. He served in that capacity until 1994, eventually leaving to enter into private practice. Holmes supplemented his practice by co-hosting the radio talk show, "The Law with You," in addition to serving as a certified hearing examiner for the Texas Education Agency (1996 to 1998).
An ordained minister, Holmes is an associate minister at St. John Missionary Baptist.
He is a registered Democrat.
