The Hon. Theresa M. Neo is a judge for the 6th Judicial District Court of Minnesota. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mark Dayton on June 6, 2014.
The 6th Judicial District includes Carlton County, Cook County, Lake County, and St. Louis County.
Prior to her appointment, Neo was an assistant city attorney for the Criminal Division of the Duluth City Attorney’s Office. Before that, she spent time as a staff attorney for the Indian Legal Assistance Program as well as the Safe Haven Shelter for Battered Women.
Neo earned an associate’s degree from Culinary Arts Southern Maine Community College (1989) and a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University (1993). She then completed a J.D. at Hamline University School of Law in 2001.
Her memberships have included the Lavender Bar Association, the Minnesota District Judges Association, the National Association of Women Judges, Minnesota Women Lawyers, and the 11th District Bar Association. She has also been involved with the 6th Judicial District Children’s Justice Initiative, the Minnesota Board on Judicial Standards, the Temple Israel Board of Trustees, the International Coastal Cleanup, and Sing! A Women’s Chorus.
