Hon. Thomas F. McGuire is a judge for the Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois. He was elected to the Circuit Court in 2018.
While on the bench, McGuire has held an assignment in the Third Municipal District of the Municipal Department.
He attended DePaul University, where he received a B.A. in political science in 1996. McGuire also completed a J.D. at DePaul University College of Law in 2000.
After law school, he worked briefly as a staff attorney with the Office of the Chief Judge of Cook County before joining the Cook County State’s Attorneys’ Office in 2002. McGuire served as an assistant state’s attorney until entering into solo practice in 2013. He remained in that capacity until his election to the bench.
McGuire is married to Dr. Birgitta McGuire, M.D., and they have two daughters. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, running, and spending time with his family.
He is registered as a Democrat.
