The Hon. Thomas G. Walsh is a judge for the Vermont Superior Court. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Peter Shumlin, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Meredith Wright.
Walsh has held an assignment in the Environmental Division of the Superior Court. The Division, which has statewide jurisdiction, handles environmental law cases and hears appeals and enforcement actions, including appeals from municipal panels, appeals from Act 250 decisions, appeals from the Agency of Natural Resources and Natural Resources Board, municipal enforcement actions, and Agency of Natural Resources and Natural Resources Board enforcement actions.
Prior to his appointment, Walsh was the founding partner at Walsh & Monaghan, LLP, where his practice focused on land use and environmental law. In addition to his practice, he served for several years as associate general counsel for the Environmental Board (1999 to 2005).
Walsh received a B.S. in agricultural engineering from Cornell University in 1986. He then spent time as an environmental engineer with a national environmental consulting firm before completing a J.D. and an LL.M. in environmental law and policy at Vermont Law School in 1993.
